LEGOLAND Japan Hotel with a 5-Year-Old: Honest Review of the Friends Suite (Room, Bathroom, Restaurant)

日本語版はこちら → レゴランド・ジャパン・ホテル フレンズスイート宿泊記

We stayed two nights at LEGOLAND Japan Hotel in Nagoya as a family of three, with our 5-year-old son. Our room was the Friends Suite, on a plan that included breakfast and a 2-day combo pass for LEGOLAND Japan. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom and washbasin area were thoughtfully designed for families with small kids. On the other hand, the bed felt a little small for the three of us — so here is our honest take, from a parent’s point of view.

Is it a good fit for your child’s age?

Babies and toddlers

The bathroom is spacious and clean, so bathing together or letting your little one sit on the floor isn’t a worry. The bed guard is another reassuring point.

Preschoolers

Kids can wash their hands on their own with the step stool, and they’ll love seeing LEGOLAND from the window. With a play area right outside the restaurant and photo chances with LEGO characters (if the timing works out), this is the age that will enjoy the hotel most.

The room (Friends Suite)

The Friends Suite sleeps up to 3 adults and 3 children. As a suite perk, we got free access to the water play area and a free kids’ workshop (once, on the check-in day — you book a time slot with the QR code you receive at arrival).

The room was really spacious. The sofa sits right along the path into the room, so it’s not wasted space — it was handy for lounging and sorting luggage. An adult could probably sleep on it if needed. We also liked that it isn’t a fabric sofa.

For our family — two adults and one child sharing the bed — it felt a little small. We were grateful, though, that a bed guard had been installed for us.

There’s no door or partition between the bedroom and the sofa area, so at night you may need to turn off all the lights if brightness bothers you.

The TV can’t connect to the internet, so no YouTube or streaming. But LEGO cartoons are on, and after a long day at LEGOLAND we were too tired to care this time.

Having a room with a LEGOLAND view was lovely — we kept peeking out the window throughout our stay.

Bathroom and washbasin

The bathroom is roomy with a clean floor, so bathing with a baby or toddler, or letting them sit down, isn’t a concern. The path from the toilet is step-free and easy to move around.

The toiletries were nothing special. We’re repeat guests, so that didn’t bother us.

A step stool for little ones is already placed at the washbasin, so you don’t have to ask the front desk for one. Very convenient.

Restaurant

Meals are mostly buffet style. Dinner was sometimes a choose-your-main style and sometimes a buffet — we couldn’t quite figure out what decides which.
If the timing works out, you can take photos with LEGO characters, and the staff will let you know when.

This time there was cotton candy, which wasn’t there the year before, and our son was thrilled. It may be a limited-time offer.

The food itself is average — some dishes are good, others are just what you’d expect. Still, with the cute LEGO decor, a play area right outside the restaurant, and outdoor seating with small play objects, we’d say it scores above average for families with kids.

Summary

  • Very spacious room, with a sofa you can really relax on
  • Roomy, clean bathroom, plus thoughtful touches like a step stool and bed guard
  • The bed is a bit tight for 2 adults + 1 child
  • Restaurant food is average, but the LEGO theme and play area make families happy

Including the view of LEGOLAND from the room, this was a very satisfying hotel for a stay with a LEGO-loving child.
